Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is intended to help people improve their ability to manage stressful situations, as well as improve their relationships with others. DBT is based on the idea that life is made up of two opposing forces called dialectics. There are four skills categories that are used during therapy: interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, mindfulness and distress tolerance
